1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to the DMV Expert website at dmvexpert.com, its language subdomains, and the web pages and browser-based study tools we operate together as the “Site.” In this policy, “DMV Expert,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Site.

DMV Expert provides independent driver-license study content, including car, motorcycle, commercial driver’s license (CDL), and road-sign practice material. We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any Department of Motor Vehicles or other licensing authority.

This policy covers the Site. If you use the DMV Expert Android application, Google Play, an official state-agency website, a social network, or another third-party service, that service may provide its own privacy notice. Its notice also applies to information it handles.

No website account requiredYou can use the Site’s study pages and practice tests without creating a DMV Expert website account.
Advertising supports the SiteGoogle and other approved vendors may use cookies or similar technologies to measure and deliver ads.
You have choicesCookie controls, browser settings, Google ad controls, and legal privacy requests may be available to you.
Plain-language summary: We collect the information needed to operate, protect, understand, and fund the Site. We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or sell it for money. Advertising-related disclosures can nevertheless be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws; Section 7 explains the available controls.

2. Information we collect or otherwise handle

The information involved depends on how you use the Site and which privacy choices you make.

Sensitive information

We do not ask you to provide a driver’s license number, Social Security number, payment-card information, precise geolocation, medical information, or other sensitive personal information through the Site. Please do not include sensitive or confidential information in emails, comments, or correction reports.

3. Cookies, analytics, ads, and local storage

The Site and its service providers may use cookies, browser local storage, pixels, tags, web beacons, scripts, IP addresses, and similar technologies. They fall into these general groups:

  • Essential and security technologies help pages load, protect the Site, prevent abuse, and preserve basic functionality.
  • Preference technologies remember choices such as light or dark theme, page layout, and consent selections.
  • Analytics technologies help us understand visits, sessions, traffic sources, device categories, page performance, and aggregated usage trends.
  • Advertising technologies help deliver, limit, personalize where permitted, measure, and report advertising.

Google services

The Site is built on Blogger and may use Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google-hosted media, and related Google services. Google and participating vendors may place or read cookies, receive your IP address and device/browser information, and process activity on this Site. Depending on your settings, consent, region, and the type of ad served, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Even limited or non-personalized ads can use information for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, fraud prevention, security, and basic ad delivery.

Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Your browser storage

Some Site preferences are saved locally on your device rather than in a DMV Expert user account. You can remove those preferences by clearing cookies and site data in your browser. Blocking all storage may cause the Site to forget your settings or affect certain features.

4. How and why we use information

We may use information for the following purposes:

  • provide, operate, maintain, translate, and improve the Site and its study tools;
  • remember your display, language, and privacy preferences;
  • understand how content is found and used, measure performance, and improve navigation;
  • respond to support messages, feedback, copyright notices, and correction reports;
  • detect, investigate, and prevent spam, fraud, security incidents, scraping abuse, and technical failures;
  • display and measure advertising that helps fund free content;
  • enforce our Terms and Conditions and protect users, the Site, and our rights; and
  • comply with law, legal process, and valid governmental requests.

Legal bases for EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions

Where a law requires a legal basis, processing may rely on: your consent (for example, certain analytics or personalized advertising technologies); our legitimate interests in operating, securing, understanding, and improving the Site; steps taken at your request when you contact us; and legal obligations. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already completed.

5. When information may be disclosed

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers and platforms. Hosting, content delivery, analytics, advertising, security, communication, and technical providers may process information to perform services for us.
  • Advertising and measurement partners. Google and approved advertising vendors may receive device, browser, activity, cookie, and ad-interaction information as described in Sections 3 and 7.
  • At your direction or publicly. Information you intentionally post in a public comment or send through a third-party platform may be visible to that platform and other users.
  • Legal, safety, and integrity reasons. We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid process; protect rights, safety, and property; investigate abuse; or enforce our terms.
  • Business changes. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.

We do not disclose your email correspondence publicly unless you authorize it or disclosure is legally required. We do not sell personal information for money to data brokers.

6. Advertising, “sale” or “sharing,” and your choices

Advertising helps keep DMV Expert’s website content available without requiring a paid website account. Google and other approved vendors may use data from this Site and other sites to select and measure ads. Under some US state laws, allowing advertising partners to use identifiers and browsing activity for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising can be classified as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information even when no money is exchanged for your personal information.

Where required, the Site may present a consent or privacy-choice message. You can revisit any available privacy controls on the Site, adjust your browser’s cookie settings, or use these provider and industry controls:

  • Google Ads Settings for Google advertising personalization choices;
  • Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on; and
  • Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tools for participating companies.

These controls are provided by third parties and may use cookies to remember an opt-out. Clearing cookies, changing browsers, or using another device may require you to renew your choice. We will also process legally valid requests to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising where the applicable law grants that right.

7. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • know whether we process your personal information and access or receive a copy of it;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • request deletion of personal information;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • receive portable information you provided in a commonly used format;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling where applicable;
  • limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, although we do not intentionally request it through the Site;
  • appeal a decision on a privacy request where local law provides an appeal right; and
  • complain to your local data-protection or privacy regulator.

To make a request, email Support@DMVExpert.com with the subject “Privacy request” and describe the right you want to exercise. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and locate relevant records. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted, but we may request proof of authority and identity verification.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. If we deny a request, we will explain the reason when the law requires us to do so. Rights are not absolute, and we may retain or withhold information where an exception applies—for example, for security, legal compliance, free-expression rights, or establishment and defense of legal claims.

California notice

California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, or delete personal information; opt out of sale or sharing; limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and receive equal service and pricing. The categories collected, sources, purposes, and recipients are described in Sections 2 through 6. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

EEA and UK notice

Residents of the European Economic Area or United Kingdom may also object to direct marketing, request restriction, request portability, and lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority where they live or work. You may contact us first so we have an opportunity to address your concern.

8. Retention, security, and international processing

Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, including to respond to messages, maintain records, improve and secure the Site, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention depends on the type of information, its sensitivity, operational need, and legal requirements. Browser preferences remain on your device until they expire or you clear them. Third-party providers maintain information under their own retention settings and policies.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the Site and the information involved. However, no internet transmission, browser storage, email system, or hosted service can be guaranteed completely secure. Please use care when deciding what to send or post.

International processing

The Site and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries that may have different privacy laws from your country. Where required, providers may use recognized safeguards for international transfers. By using third-party services, your information may also be transferred under those providers’ terms and privacy notices.

9. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience preparing for driver-licensing knowledge tests and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without legally required parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.

Users under the age of legal majority where they live should use the Site with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. Please do not post a minor’s personal contact information in public comments.

10. External links and third-party services

The Site links to official state agencies, manuals, Google Play, social networks, advertisers, and other websites. A link does not mean we control that service’s privacy practices. Review the privacy notice of any external service before providing information. We are not responsible for third-party privacy, security, content, or availability.

Our Site may also display content or assets delivered by a third-party host or content delivery network. Your browser normally sends basic network and device information to the host in order to retrieve that resource.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the Site, our providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we may provide an additional notice where appropriate. Your privacy rights are governed by the version in effect when the relevant processing occurs, subject to applicable law.

12. Contact us

For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, email Support@DMVExpert.com. Please do not include a driver’s license number, Social Security number, payment information, or other sensitive documents in your first message.
